Activist Votanovsky* accused of ignoring foreign agent marking

The police drew up two protocols against Vitaly Votanovsky*, an activist from Krasnodar, accusing him of ignoring the requirement to mark his entries on the Internet with a note that they were produced by a foreign agent.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 15, 2023, it became known that the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) included Vitaly Votanovsky*, who disseminated “the information aimed at creating a negative image of Russia,” in the register of foreign agents.

Mikhail Benyash* drew attention to the fact that the Prikubansky District Court of Krasnodar received two police protocols drawn up against Vitaly Votanovsky*. “I don’t remember similar cases in Kuban, it seems that this is the first one,” Mikhail Benyash* noted.

Let us remind you that Vitaly Votanovsky* was repeatedly detained at protest actions. On March 30, 2022, an activist’s apartment was searched, after which the police drew up a protocol against him on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces for a pacifist slogan on a group’s avatar. On October 6, 2022, a court fined Vitaly Votanovsky* under the article on participation in an undesirable organization.

In February 2023, Vitaly Votanovsky* complained that he began to receive threats after he had posted in his Telegram channel the photos of the graves of military personnel who perished in Ukraine. In April 2023, Vitaly Votanovsky* announced that he had left Russia.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
