Blogger Vitaly Votanovsky reports threats after posting photos from military cemeteries

Vitaly Votanovsky, an activist from Kuban (Krasnodar Territory), has stated that after he made and posted in his Telegram channel entitled "Titushki in Krasnodar" photos of the graves of the militaries who perished in Ukraine, he began receiving threats.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Votanovsky had been repeatedly detained at protest actions. On February 24, 2022, he was detained at a pacifist rally in Krasnodar. On March 30, his home was searched; and law enforcers drew up a protocol against him on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces for a pacifist slogan posted on the group's avatar. On October 6, the court fined Votanovsky under the article on participation in an undesirable organization.

On September 16, 2022, Vitaly Votanovsky and Victor Chirikov, an activist, were detained after making photos in the town of Tikhoretsk of the graves of the militaries who had perished in Ukraine. A few hours before the detention, Votanovsky reported claims from cemetery caretakers.

According to Votanovsky, after he had posted in his Telegram channel the photos of the graves of the military servicemen who had perished in Ukraine, he began receiving threats, the "7x7" outlet has reports in its Telegram channel.

Vitaly said that he received calls from some men who introduced themselves as employees of the ritual service. They offered him to buy a place in the cemetery "at a discount for use in the next two years." They also said that they could process his photo for the monument as a gift for free, the "Mediazona"* has reported.

Vitaly Votanovsky has added that he began receiving threats after the local outlet "Zhivaya Kuban" published an article about his Telegram channel, in which he was called a "foreign agent" and a "Zelensky's supporter".
