Chechen native arrested in London for preparing attack on Iranian oppositionists

In London, a court arrested Magomed-Khusein Dovtaev, a native of Chechnya, finding him guilty of attempting to collect information for a subsequent attack on employees of the “Iran International” opposition TV Channel. The native of Chechnya states that he had been “put under fire.”

According to the investigators’ version, 31-year-old Magomed-Khusein Dovtaev was filming on his mobile phone the facade of the building in which the “Iran International” TV Channel rented premises in order to transfer the video to third parties later. The investigators suggest that the above-mentioned video could subsequently be used to bypass the building’s security system and carry out an attack on TV Channel’s employees, planned by Iranian intelligence services.

The ”Iran International” TV Channel has been declared an extremist organization in Iran, the TASS reports.

Magomed-Khusein Dovtaev stated that he was filming a beautiful view and “admiring the architecture.” According to the man’s story, on December 11, he arrived in London from Austria and went to the business park where the “Iran International” studio was then located and that a certain acquaintance asked him about that.

After the detention of the native of Chechnya, the “Iran International” TV Channel decided to move the studio from the UK to the USA for security reasons.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in December, in Germany, a court pronounced a decision to extradite a 21-year-old native of Chechnya, who, according to the investigators’ version, beat to death a gay pride parade participant in the city of Munster.

On November 30, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia declared the “International LGBT Social Movement” an extremist organization and banned its activities in the territory of the Russian Federation.
