Analysts consider tossing pig’s head at Kadyrov monument to be anti-Muslim action

A head of a dead animal tossed to a Muslim monument may be regarded as an insult to the feelings of believers, regardless of the personality of Akhmat Kadyrov, analysts note. The qualification of the actions of a person detained for posting a video showing a pig’s head tossed at the Akhmat Kadyrov monument in Moscow depends on the investigators’ position, an advocate emphasizes.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in October, a video was posted on the Internet showing a young man throwing a pig’s head to the monument on Akhmat Kadyrov Street in Moscow. Telegram channels reported that the person involved in the incident was detained. Alexander Kudryashov, a father of the detained young man, said that his son together with a girlfriend laid a pig’s head at the monument, but the action was not religious in nature, but “was rather political.”

Tossing of a pig’s head reveals hate speech, notes Alexander Verkhovsky, the head of the “SOVA” Research Centre. “Such a gesture has been intended to offend Muslims as a whole,” stated Alexander Verkhovsky.

Caucasian expert Akhmet Yarlykapov emphasizes that tossing a pig’s head may well be regarded as an anti-Muslim action. “A pig is a forbidden animal. And the tossed pig’s head is not just a personal attack, but also an allusion to the religion that Kadyrov and the Chechens in general profess,” said Akhmet Yarlykapov.

Tossing a pig’s head may be considered an insult to the feelings of believers, notes advocate Timofei Shirokov.

“Especially if some interested people write a complaint to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) or the police and note that Akhmat Kadyrov was a Muslim, a mufti in Chechnya,” stated the advocate.
