Kabardino-Balkarian SC sides with advocate Tsipinova

The Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria refused to grant a public prosecutor’s appeal and upheld the acquittal of advocate Diana Tsipinova, who was accused of attacking a law enforcer.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 7, the Urvansky District Court did not find any corpus delicti in the actions of Diana Tsipinova, accused of attacking a law enforcer, and acquitted her.

Diana Tsipinova, an advocate of the Kabardino-Balkaria Bar Association, was accused of using violence against a policeman. The public prosecutor requested the court to sentence the advocate to 2.5 years of imprisonment. Colleagues of Diana Tsipinova point out that in the recent 10 years, cases of persecution of advocates for their professional activities have become more frequent.

The court approved Diana Tsipinova’s acquittal, the Russian Federal Bar Association (RFBA) reported in its Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that a criminal case was instituted after an incident involving advocate Ratmir Zhilokov occurred in Nartkala in May 2020. According to the investigators’ version, Ratmir Zhilokov tried to prevent the police from entering the building where gambling activities were allegedly taking place. Three advocates, including Diana Tsipinova, arrived to talk to the detainee, but they were not allowed to visit Ratmir Zhilokov. The policemen did not like that the advocate were filming them, and they “twisted the advocates’ arms behind their backs and expelled them from the building.”
