Prosecutor’s office challenges verdict to advocate Tsipinova

An officer of the prosecutor’s office filed an appeal against the verdict to Diana Tsipinova, an advocate from Kabardino-Balkaria, who was acquitted in a case on an attack on a law enforcer. This was reported by the Human Rights Centre of Kabardino-Balkaria on its Telegram channel with reference to a post of the “Advokatskaya Street”*.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 7, the Urvansky District Court found no corpus delicti in the actions of Diana Tsipinova, accused of assaulting a law enforcer, and acquitted her.

Diana Tsipinova, an advocate of the Bar Chamber of Kabardino-Balkaria, was accused of assaulting a policeman. A public prosecutor requested the court to sentence Diana Tsipinova to 2.5 years of imprisonment. Timur Nagoev, an affected law enforcer, stated that in his opinion, the advocate was guilty, but any real punishment would be inappropriate.

Let us remind you that on January 23, a court sentenced advocate Ratmir Zhilokov to 1.5 years of imprisonment, finding him guilty of assaulting a policeman, and the Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria replaced for Ratmir Zhilokov the term of imprisonment in a penal colony with a fine. The reason for the accusation was an incident which occurred in May 2020 in Nartkala. According to the investigators’ version, Ratmir Zhilokov tried to prevent the police from entering a building, where gambling activities were allegedly carried out. Three advocates, including Diana Tsipinova, arrived to visit the detainee, but they were not allowed to see Ratmir Zhilokov. The policemen did not like the fact that the advocates were filming them, and they “twisted the advocates’ arms and expelled them from the building.” The advocates get their bruises registered by medical officers and filed complaints to the investigating authorities. The policemen also addressed investigators, and on May 28 of the same year, a criminal case was instituted against Ratmir Zhilokov and Diana Tsipinova based on the reports of the policemen.
