Court acquits advocate Diana Tsipinova

The Urvan District Court has found no corpus delicti in the actions of advocate Diana Tsipinova, accused of assaulting a law enforcer, and acquitted her.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 18, 2023, the Urvan Court began debates on the criminal case of Diana Tsipinova, a member of the Bar Association of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), accused of using violence against a policeman. The prosecutor asked to sentence Tsipinova to 2.5 years in colony. The suffered law enforcer, Timur Nagoev, said that the real punishment was inappropriate. Tsipinova's advocate pointed out that she herself was subjected to violence by the law enforcer, when she tried to protect the interests of her detained colleague, and demanded an acquittal.

Inna Golitsyna, an advocate, has treated the court ruling as fair. "Justice prevails," she has stated.

On January 23, 2023, the court sentenced Ratmir Zhilokov, another KBR advocate, to 1.5 years in colony, finding him guilty of attacking a policeman, the KBR's Supreme Court (SC) replaced Zhilokov's colony term for a fine of 100,000 roubles. The reason for charging him was in the incident that happened in May 2020 in the city of Nartkala. According to investigators, Zhilokov tried not to let policemen into the facility, where gambling activities were allegedly underway. Three advocates arrived at the detainee, including Diana Tsipinova, but they were not allowed to visit Zhilokov. Law enforcers disliked the fact that the advocates were filming them; and they "twisted the advocates and drove them out of the building." The advocates fixed the beatings. Later, a criminal case was initiated against Zhilokov and Tsipinova.
