Kadyrov's son-in-law and nephew get under US sanctions

The US Treasury has included Ramzan Kadyrov's son-in-law, Deputy Speaker of the Chechen Parliament Salman Zakriev and his son Yakub, who heads the "Danone Russia" Company, into the sanctions list.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after Vladimir Putin transferred the share of the "Danone Russia", owned by a foreign company, under the temporary management of the "Rosimuschestvo" (Russian Federal Property Management Agency), the company was headed by Yakub Zakriev, a nephew of the head of Chechnya, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic. In July, Yakub Zakriev also headed the "Danone Trade", a key subsidiary of the French company "Danone" in Russia.

The US Treasury has imposed sanctions against several dozen Russian companies and citizens, including Salman Zakriev, First Deputy Chairman of the Chechen Parliament, and his son Yakub (Ibragim). Salman and Yakub Zakriev are Ramzan Kadyrov's son-in-law (his sister's husband) and nephew, respectively, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

Let us recall that after the start of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, sanctions were repeatedly introduced against Ramzan Kadyrov's relatives and Chechen officials. Thus, on August 24, 2023, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against 11 Russian citizens, among them against Aimani Kadyrova, the mother of the head of Chechnya, and Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson.
