Defence files second motion for CER of Musaeva

Advocate Alexander Savin visited Zarema Musaeva in a penal colony and sent a motion to the court for the conditional early relief of his client. That was reported by the “Team Against Torture”* two weeks after a son of Zarema Musaeva announced filing a similar motion by an advocate hired by the family.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 12, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya reduced the term of imprisonment for Zarema Musaeva to five years and replaced the term in a common-security regime penal colony with a settlement colony. As a result, Zarema Musaeva got the right for recalculation of the time served by her in a SIZO (pre-trial prison) and also to ask for the conditional early relief (CER). On October 4, Abubakar Yangulbaev, a son of Zarema Musaeva, reported that the advocate had sent a motion to the court for the conditional early relief of Zarema Musaeva.

Let us remind you that on October 3, Abubakar Yangulbaev announced that the “Team against Torture”* (which he called the “Committee against Torture”*) was no longer involved in his mother’s case.

*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
