Musaeva's advocate lodges petition for CER

A petition asking to apply the conditional early relief (CER) to Zarema Musaeva has been sent to the court by the advocate hired by the family, her son, Abubakar Yangulbaev, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 12, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya reduced the freedom deprivation term for Zarema Musaeva down to five years and replaced the general regime colony with a settlement colony. Human rights defenders and advocates have noted that Musaeva now has the right to recalculate the time she had served at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), as well as to ask for the CER. Activists of the "Team against Torture" (TaT)* reported that the colony administration in the city of Argun (Chechnya) had placed Musaeva on preventive registration for the period of three months.

Let us remind you that on January 20, 2022, Chechen law enforcers took Zarema Musaeva (the wife of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former Russian federal judge) away from her apartment in Nizhny Novgorod. In Grozny, she was charged with assaulting a policeman.

A petition has been submitted to the court for the CER of Zarema Musaeva, said Abubakar Yangulbaev, Musaeva's son, who is a lawyer. "The petition was filed by the advocate hired by our family," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Let us add here that on October 3, Yangulbaev reported that the "Team against Torture"* (which he called the "Committee against Torture"*) was no longer involved in his mother's case.

*The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
