After being beaten in Maykop, activist Roman Taganov hospitalized

Doctors have diagnosed traumas to activist Roman Taganov, who was hospitalized in the city of Maykop after being beaten up there. The attacker demanded to stop placing his posts in the social network.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2022, a court in Maykop overturned the decision to transfer Roman Taganov from house arrest to the SIZO (pre-trial prison). This allows the activist to claim compensation for placing into custody, his advocate has explained. Taganov himself said that he had finally got the opportunity to work and maintain his family.

On July 29, 2022, Roman Taganov was sentenced by the Maykop City Court to three years of conditional imprisonment on charges of using non-dangerous violence against law enforcers. He was released from the SIZO on October 13, 2022.

Taganov is at hospital with a suspected brain concussion and plans to file a complaint with the police.

"An aggressive man came to my office with a demand to 'shut up' and stop writing on the Internet. When we left, he mentioned that I had written something wrong about the president. Probably, he is my subscriber in social networks, and knows that I am dissatisfied with the current political course," Mr Taganov has stated.

According to his story, the man took him to a place where there were no security cameras, saying that he was "going to kill him." There he hit Taganov in the face. Passers-by called an ambulance; and doctors recorded a large haematoma on Roman's arm, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.
