After complaint to Chechen Ombudsperson, Chechens from Dagestani village achieve authorities' attention

After complaints from the Chechens living in the village of Kemsi-Yurt and Mansur Soltaev's talks with local authorities, it was decided to build a kindergarten and a medical facility in the village, as well as to construct a road from Khasavyurt.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on August 2, more than a hundred young people gathered near the village of Tukhchar on the Dagestani-Chechen border after a domestic conflict of two people. The situation required law enforcers' intervention.

The "Caucasian Knot" reader named shakia_jacobi has drawn attention to reports about the Chechens' problems in Dagestan. "An audio circulated in the WhatsApp*, in which a woman, who introduced herself as a Chechen living in the village of Kemsi-Yurt (Khasavyurt District of Dagestan), complained about the biased attitude of local authorities towards Akkin Chechens. According to her story, the Chechens are not allowed to create their own village council; there is no kindergarten; the road to the village is not being built; and social issues are not being resolved, while in neighbouring villages all the problems are being solved by Dagestani authorities at the proper level," the reader has written.

"In the opinion of villagers, the solution to the problem is very simple. It's just necessary to restore the former Aukhovsky District, which includes part of the territories of the modern Khasavyurt, Novolak and Kazbek Districts of Dagestan, and return it to Chechnya," the user gema_weimann, a "Caucasian Knot" reader, has suggested.

The "Grozny-Inform" News Agency has reported on the meeting of Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, with Chechens in the village of Kemsi-Yurt. As a result of his visit, local authorities have promised to build a road from the village to the city of Khasavyurt in 2024-25, as well as to help in building a kindergarten.
