Court denies complaint of Dagestani policeman on torture and case falsification
The cassation instance has found the arguments of the defence about torture and falsification of the criminal case against Ruslan Magomedov, a former policeman from Dagestan, sentenced to three years in colony for drug possession, to be unproved.
Ruslan was detained in the summer of 2020 after they found drugs on him. According to investigators, during the detention, Magomedov tried to throw drugs into the back seat of his car.
Magomedov himself claimed that law enforcers first examined his car and the pockets of his clothes, but found nothing, after which they demanded a second search. Magomedov, according to his story, agreed to a second inspection only in the presence of witnesses and filmed his colleagues' actions by his smartphone, for which he was beaten up. He is sure that the drugs were planted on him, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* has reported.
