Rights defenders demand investigators' reaction to disappearance of Grozny resident
The fate of Rizvan Dadaev from Grozny, who had confessed to being homosexual and detained in Chechnya, has been unknown for more than three months; and investigators have not yet reacted to the application about his disappearance. This was stated by human rights defenders, who demanded from investigators to report the results of the inquiry.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, 2022, Igor Kochetkov, a former head of the "Russian LGBT Network"*, stated that Chechen law enforcers had detained a Grozny citizen who confessed to his non-traditional sexual orientation.
"After his detention, a video appeared on the Internet, in which Dadaev confesses that he was going to meet a guy for sex. Since then, nothing has been known about Dadaev. Back in July, Igor Kochetkov demanded from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) and the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) to investigate the Dadaev's disappearance. Mr Kochetkov fears that the young man might have been killed," says the Telegram channel of the SK SOS Crisis Group.
Let us remind you that back in January, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution on the protection of the rights of LGBT people in Europe, paying special attention to persecutions for sexual orientation in Chechnya, and demanded from Russian authorities to punish those responsible.
