Colleagues of Dagestani journalist Gadjiev hold pickets demanding his release

Today, in Makhachkala, activists have held pickets demanding the release of Dagestani journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev and other political prisoners.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev regularly hold solo pickets in Makhachkala in support of him, at which they also demand to stop the persecution of journalists and release political prisoners. So, on August 15, Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s children came to support the pickets. Tourists and local residents became interested in the protest actions.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov. the head of the “Ansar” charity foundation, and Kemal Tambiev were accused of financing terrorism. Abdulmumin Gadjiev maintains he is not guilty, while his colleagues consider the persecution of the journalist to be pressure on him.

Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik”, came to the rally with a banner reading: “Freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev.” Journalist Idris Yusupov held a solo picket with the demand to release political prisoners, the “Chernovik” reports in its Telegram channel.

Members of Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s family attended the picket place, the “Kavkaz. Realii”* reports.
