Training of law enforcers for special military operation in Ukraine becomes Kadyrov’s political trump card

By sending detachments of Chechen law enforcers and other volunteers to Donbass, Ramzan Kadyrov stood out among the heads of the regions of Northern Caucasus to emphasize his loyalty to Vladimir Putin, experts note. According to them, the Ramzan Kadyrov’s status in the eyes of the Kremlin was also influenced by the participation of the Chechen leader in the organization of a base of the National Guard of Russia in Gudermes.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov regularly reports about sending volunteers to Ukraine. On May 5, the leader of Chechnya reported about sending another detachment of 200 fighters. According to experts, a 10-day period of preparation for participation in the special military operation is not sufficient.

Ramzan Kadyrov is the only leader of the regions of Northern Caucasus who actively participates in the special military operation in Ukraine, political analyst Alexei Malashenko notes. The expert explains that no other republic of Northern Caucasus has such a great number of law enforcers.

By sending his law enforcers to Ukraine, “Ramzan Kadyrov confirmed his loyalty to Vladimir Putin,” Alexei Malashenko added.

Ramzan Kadyrov participated in the construction of the federal base of the National Guard of Russia in Gudermes, notes Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

In March 2017, Daniil Martynov, an assistant to the leader of Chechnya for the power bloc, said that Ramzan Kadyrov came up with the idea to create an international special forces training centre in Gudermes around 2013.
