After his arrest, Daniel Kurakin goes on hunger strike

Daniel Kurakin, a Volgograd activist, has gone on a protest hunger strike after being arrested under the article of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Daniel was detained on March 18 at the "Crimean Spring" rally in Volgograd after unfolding a poster there against the special operation in Ukraine. On March 19, the court sentenced him to 15 days of administrative arrest. The activist has refused to admit his guilt of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

After the court ruling on his arrest, Daniel Kurakin went on a hunger strike and wrote an application about it to the police. The application, a copy of which is at the disposal of the "Caucasian Knot", informs the police that his hunger strike is an expression of protest against persecution for political views and against the special operation in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" is placing materials on the impact of events in Ukraine on the political and social life of the regions of Southern Russia and the countries of Southern Caucasus in its thematic page "Echo of Ukrainian events in Caucasus".
