Prosecutors order law enforcers to investigate kidnapping of a native of Dagestan in Moscow

In Moscow, the Prosecutor’s Office has recognized illegal the refusal of investigators to institute a criminal case on the kidnapping by Chechen law enforcers of Ibragim Selimkhanov, a native of Dagestan, his advocates report.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 18, 2021, the “SK SOS” crisis group reported that after four requests, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) did not provide the court with materials concerning a complaint about the investigators’ inaction on the complaint filed on the kidnapping of Ibragim Selimkhanov, a native of Dagestan.

On the complaint of advocates cooperating with the “SK SOS” crisis group, the Perovskaya Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office of Moscow recognized illegal the refusal of the “Novogireevo” Police Department to institute a criminal case on the kidnapping of Ibragim Selimkhanov, the press service for the “SK SOS” crisis group reported.

“The Prosecutor’s Office ordered employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to conduct an inspection, question witnesses, and also report the results to the Prosecutor’s Office,” says the message received by the “Caucasian Knot” today.

According to the press release, Ibragim Selimkhanov filed the complaint about his kidnapping on June 23, 2021, at the “Novogireevo” Police Department. “According to the detainee, police officers laughed at him during the interrogation and also did not want to accept his complaint,” human rights defenders reported.
