An advocate has met Adam Khamchiev, an Ingush blogger, who was detained in Nazran. The "Civil Initiative" has explained his persecution by the fact that his activities in defence of resident's rights "had caused noticeable irritation" among local bureaucrats.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 27, members of the "Civil Initiative" Party reported the kidnapping of Adam Khamchiev, a blogger and a party member. Prior to the kidnapping, he reported about received threats. Khamchiev is kept by police on suspicion of possessing firearms, the Ingush branch of the party has stated. The activist had drawn authorities' attention to problems of residents of Ingushetia, Instagram users have indicated.

Recently, Adam Khamchiev has covered the situation in the perinatal centre of Ingushetia. "He helps people to achieve their rights and highlights problems of ordinary residents – absence of supplies of water and electricity, extortions at medical institutions, and violations in village administrations," the party branch has stated.

The court session to decide on Khamchiev's freedom restraint measure is scheduled for January 29.
