Words about Ukraine mean Kadyrov's attempt to please Putin

By declaring the need to annex Ukraine to Russia, Ramzan Kadyrov has tried to win President Putin's approval, Alexei Malashenko and Dmitry Oreshkin, political analysts, assert. The readiness of the head of Chechnya to act as "Putin's infantryman" on the Ukrainian issue is sanctioned by the Kremlin, Ruslan Kutaev, a Caucasian expert, believes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2021, at a meeting with Vladimir Putin, Kadyrov assured him that he was ready to perform any of his orders.

"The Ukrainian issue is not even the president's level – it's my level. If I were instructed, I would have solved this issue long ago: either merged Ukraine with the Chechen Republic, or captured is," the head of Chechnya has stated.

Alexei Malashenko is sure that Kadyrov's words about the expediency to liquidate Ukraine as a state show his desire to demonstrate loyalty to Putin. According to Mr Malashenko, Kadyrov thinks that he can influence the Russian foreign policy.

Dmitry Oreshkin, a political analyst, is also sure that Kadyrov "is catching what Putin is pleased to hear." The aim of the statement is "to please Putin and show Ramzan's loyalty," the expert has stated.

In his turn, Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, believes that Kadyrov's words about Ukraine as a state reflect not only his personal position. "The Kremlin is trying to please the West and at the same time blackmails it by means of two regional leaders – Kadyrov and Lukashenko. Therefore, Ramzan comes out with similar threats against Ukraine," Mr Kutaev has stated.
