A warder of Vladikavkaz penal colony suspected of negligence after prisoner’s death

In North Ossetia, an assistant to the chief of a penal colony did not stop the violation of the rules of behaviour by prisoners at night, which led to the death of one of them, investigators suggested.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that a mother of prisoner Albert Yuldashev believes that his murder became possible due to gross violations of the rules of behaviour by prisoners in the Vladikavkaz penal colony and due to the fact that Albert Yuldashev was taken to hospital too late after being stabbed.

According to the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) for North Ossetia, a quarrel amid inmates of the penal colony took place on October 10. A prisoner fatally injured another convict. Doctors failed to save the victim because of the large blood loss.

According to the investigators’ information, on the night when the suspect was on duty, nine convicts stayed in the dining room, thereby violating the order in the penitentiary institution. A quarrel occurred amid the two convicts. One of them took out a knife, which was given to him for work, but not handed over in due order, and wounded the other in a stomach.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that on October 15, five days after Albert Yuldashev’s death, riots broke out at the Vladikavkaz penal colony. According to the FSIN, during the searches, two prisoners refused to obey the warders’ requests and called on the other convicts to riot. Investigators reported that at least 200 prisoners were involved in the riot. According to one of the versions, the riots were related to the appointment of a new chief of the FSIN Department for North Ossetia and the toughening of the attitude towards prisoners.
