"Open media": Kadyrov's guards cost the budget one billion roubles

About 1 billion roubles from the state budget have been spent for guarding Ramzan Kadyrov and his family members over the past five years, the Open Media writes, citing the data from the portal of state purchases.

Over each of the past five years, at least 200 million roubles were allocated from the budget to guard Kadyrov and his family. About 400 Rosgvardia (Russian National Guard) fighters were involved in ensuring their safety, the journalists found out.

Every year, the two agencies engaged in servicing Kadyrov's residence and the homes of his relatives conclude security contracts with Rosgvardia. In February 2021, the total amount of these contracts made 201.4 million roubles.

In 2018, the anti-corruption organization Transparency International drew attention to the fact that the same agencies were ordering the guarding both Kadyrov's residence and his relatives' private houses at the expense of the state budget. As experts pointed out, the budgetary expenditures for guarding private property are inappropriate.

In 2019, according to the declaration, submitted by the head of Chechnya, his incomes amounted to 147.9 million roubles; and Kadyrov's wife increased her incomes by 40 times as compared with 2018. In 2015, Kadyrov, according to the Dozhd TV channel, used the largest business air jet in the world, worth about 2 billion roubles.
