Volgograd student detained for dancing on Mamayev Kurgan

Policemen have detained a 20-year-old student of a Volgograd higher school, who had posted a video of his dance on the Mamayev Kurgan. The detainee has explained that he wanted to increase the audience of his blog by means of the video.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that police in Volgograd began a check after a video appeared in the TikTok network in which a young man, dressed in jeans only, was dancing at the foot of the "Motherland" statue at the mass grave of Mamayev Kurgan. Social network users were outraged by the blogger's act and called for punishment.

Mamayev Kurgan is a hill on the banks of the Volga River in the Tsentralny District of Volgograd, where the memorial complex "To Heroes of Stalingrad Battle" and the sculpture "Motherland Calls!" in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (World War II) are located.

Today, the police detained a student who had danced on the Mamayev Kurgan, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Volgograd Region has reported.

"It has been established that the video was filmed by a 20-year-old resident of the Gorodischensky District, a student at the Volgograd Management Institute ... He explained his actions by his desire to attract more subscribers to his Internet channel," says the message posted on the MIA's website.
