In Astrakhan, Navalny's supporter reports details of his beating after detention

Dmitry Kalinkin, a resident of Astrakhan, who came to a protest action in support of Alexei Navalny, was detained and beaten at a police station, his relatives said.

On January 23, supporters of Alexei Navalny held protest actions throughout the whole Russia. According to the version of Leonid Volkov, the head of the Alexei Navalny's office network, 250,000-300,000 people took part in the protests.

On January 26, 35-year-old Dmitry Kalinkin was taken away from a playground, where he was walking with his pregnant wife and child, and brought to a police station for the participation in the protest action on January 23, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Alyona, a sister of Dmitry Kalinkin.

"He is an ordinary, honest, and hard-working person. He was never involved in hooliganism," the man's sister said.

"My client complained of poor health ... Doctors offered to hospitalize him," said advocate Alexander Andreev.

Other detained activists, including Mikhail Doliev, the head of the local branch of the "Parnas" Party, also saw the beaten man at the police building.

On January 26, Alexei Sarmin, another Astrakhan activist, was also brought to the police station.
