Chechen law enforcers scold traffic rules violators

Law enforcers have spread a video of a so-called "prophylactic conversation" of employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of Chechnya and an official of the Chechen Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM, or Muftiate) with the local residents who had violated traffic rules.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechen law enforcers are regularly publicly reprimanding local residents for their violations. Thus, on September 22, the head of one of ROVDs (District Interior Divisions) forced detainees to repent of using narcotic drugs and drunk driving.

The Chechen Adats (customs, traditions) suggest a possibility of public reprimanding, but leave the right to perform it with offender's relatives, while the authorities have assumed this function, experts have noted.

As reported by the public "ChP Chechnya" on the Instagram, an official of the Chechen SAM, has noted that violators endanger "not only their own lives and health, but those of other road users, which is completely prohibited by our religion."

The commentators have condemned the perpetrators, but treat public scolding as excessive.
