Camp residents near Kullar to be to transferred to boarding houses

Some 300 Azerbaijani citizens remain in the camp near Kullar; they will be accommodated in Dagestani boarding houses; and the camp tents will be dismantled with the onset of cold weather. In total, 1200 Azerbaijani citizens willing to return to their homeland have been registered in Dagestan, the operative headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that for the Azerbaijani citizens, who failed to return to their country due to the borders closed because of coronavirus, a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) was set up near the Dagestani village of Kullar. The camp residents were sent home in groups every week, but due to the hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone on September 29, sending of another group was cancelled. On October 20, the dispatch of Azerbaijanis home was resumed. By October 28, over 400 Azerbaijanis still remained in the camp and around it.

Since the camp near the border is being closed, the newly arriving citizens of Azerbaijan will have to take care of their place of temporary residence themselves. At the same time, they have an alternative way of returning home – by air.

Campers near Kullar had complained of uncertainty about their return to homeland and of poor living conditions in the camp.
