After selling air tickets, travel agent from Stavropol accused of financing terrorism

Lyudmila Baratova, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, sold air tickets from the city of Mineralnye Vody to Istanbul to the people, who subsequently moved to Syria and joined terrorists, investigators claim.

Lyudmila Baratova was detained on February 11; she was shown a warrant on opening a criminal case against her by the Investigating Committee of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), which suggests that she is suspected of financing terrorism, the advocate, Taulan Ebzeev, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on March 18.

According to investigators, Baratova, while in Stavropol from October 2013 to October 2017, raised money and bought air tickets for those who intended to leave for Syria to join the "Islamic State (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court.

The defence claims that the materials presented fail to contain any documents justifying Baratova's involvement in financing terrorism, while her help to buy tickets to fly from Russia to Turkey is not a crime.
