Five children returned from Syria cannot get home from Moscow
Due to problems with documents and money, five children from Karachay-Cherkessia, who were taken out of Syria to Moscow on February 7, cannot fly home. Several families were separated due to the absence of documents.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 7, it became known that 26 children were returning from Syria to Russia. According to Anna Kuznetsova, the Russian Children's Ombudsperson, other 73 children are being prepared for removal from Syria.
Suleiman Shebzukhov, a human rights defender from Karachay-Cherkessia, has noted that Russian authorities ensured the return of children only to Moscow; and then relatives themselves take the children away. Some have no enough money do make such a travel, Mr Shebzukhov has noted.
Sadretdin Saidov, a resident of Dagestan, has independently taken his two grandsons from Moscow. He said that his third grandson was born in Syria in 2016. "My daughter got married in Azerbaijan; in 2015, they left for Syria. In 2019, we learned that they were in Syria. Both the daughter and her husband perished there," Mr Saidov has told.
Zoya Gerbekova, a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, returned from Moscow with two granddaughters, who arrived by the last flight from Syria. Her two grandsons are still in Syria.
Zoya's daughter and her family left for Turkey, where they lived for five years; then, they moved to Syria, where they stayed for two years, the woman said.
