Pickets of Gadjiev's colleagues supported by Makhachkala residents

Many residents of Dagestan express their support for the arrested journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev, but only a few people are holding solo pickets demanding his release. People are afraid of becoming figurants of a trumped-up case after Gadjiev, Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" weekly, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the "Chernovik" religion section, is under arrest since June 18 under the case of financing terrorism.

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik", who took part in the Monday picket, expressed hope that soon Gadjiev's supporters would manage to receive sanction on a mass action in his defence.

Gadjiev's friends are morally supporting his family, while he is under arrest, one of his relatives has stated.

The journalist's neighbours and acquaintances do not believe in his guilt and are anticipating his release.
