"Historical appeal" strengthens Ramzan Kadyrov's image as guardian of traditions

By requiring villagers to observe mourning for their deceased neighbours, Ramzan Kadyrov continues to formulate a "code of conduct for a Chechen native," believes Mikhail Roschin, a researcher engaged in the oriental studies. The imposition of rules of behaviour leads to a decrease in the popularity of Ramzan Kadyrov, believes historian Alexei Malashenko.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov criticized videos from wedding parties posted on social networks. After that, five videos appeared on the Internet with public apologies for behaviour at the wedding parties in Chechnya.

On its YouTube channel, the ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) "Grozny" posted a story with the "Historical appeal of the leader of the Chechen Republic". Ramzan Kadyrov visited the site of the reconstruction of the historic Khoi complex in the Vedeno District and talked to local residents.

In the video, Ramzan Kadyrov advocated maintaining strict traditional rules at funeral ceremonies.

The statement voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov can be considered as a continued formation of a "code of conduct for a Chechen native," believes Mikhail Roschin, a researcher engaged in the oriental studies. According to the expert, by his actions, Ramzan Kadyrov is strengthening the Chechnya's independence from the federal centre.

Alexei Malashenko believes that the matter is in strengthening of power, but the Ramzan Kadyrov's actions have the opposite effect.

Such statements voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov, as his criticism of the violation of funeral ceremony traditions, serve to strengthen his power, ethnographer Yefim Rezvan believes. He, unlike Alexei Malashenko, noted the effectiveness of the Ramzan Kadyrov's propaganda.
