Tkibuli miners demand to pay wage arrears

Today, in Tkibuli, 15 miners of the Mindeli mine and the same number of miners of the Dzidziguri mine have refused to leave the mines until the wage arrears are paid, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to the report of the Georgian "Mtavari" TV Company.

The miners are usually get paid until the 15th day of a month; however, in September, the miners did not get their money, and they are not informed about the payment dates, reports Tamaz Doloberidze, the chairman of the trade union for the mining and metallurgical industry. "The miners cannot make bank and utility payments, and that fact further worsens their social situation, since they are fined daily because of late payments of loan interest. And there is a growing chance that the miners, as consumers, will be cut off from the supply of gas and electricity," Tamaz Doloberidze has written today on his page on Facebook as translated from Georgian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The miners are preparing an appeal to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Tamaz Doloberidze has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In their today's joint statement, the Georgian trade union confederation and the trade union for the mining and metallurgical industry call on the Georgian government to pay wages to the Tkibuli miners from the budget, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
