Police prevents father of murdered resident of Georgian from setting up tent at parliament

Georgian law enforcers did not allow Malkhaz Machalikashvili, the father of a Pankisi resident killed in a special operation, to set up a tent in front of the parliament building, explaining that some repair works had been planned in this place.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that for more than a year, relatives of the assassinated Temirlan Machalikashvili had been protesting, demanding to punish those responsible for his murder. The tent, in which Malkhaz Machalikashvili held his endless protest action, was dismantled by the police on June 21.

Today, Malkhaz Machalikashvili again tried to set up a tent near the parliament, but policemen prevented this.

According to Machalikashvili, after the dispersal of the June protest action, the police seized the tent and failed to fulfil their promise to return the property. However, he intends to continue his protest "until authorities admit their mistake in relation to his son, because he was not a terrorist," the "InterPressNews" reports.

Earlier, on May 7, 2019, the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia announced that Malkhaz, Temirlan Machalikashvili's father, had planned a terror act in the village of Zemo Machkhaani. Malkhaz Machalikashvili called this statement absurd.
