A woman from Nalchik succeeds in seeking to return her granddaughter from Iraq

The number of children returned from the Middle East on December 30, 2018, included a six-year-old granddaughter of Nalchik resident Madina Naloeva. The girl was taken away from Russia in 2015. According to Children's Rights Commissioner Anna Kuznetsova, other 36 children are to be returned from Iraq in January.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 30, 2018, Ramzan Kadyrov reported that a special flight with 30 children from Russia arrived from Iraq at the Ramenskoe Airport in the Moscow Region.

In Moscow, children were placed in a rehabilitation centre, and after a medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation, the children will be transferred to their relatives, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nalchik resident Madina Naloeva, whose six-year granddaughter was among the children returned to Russia.

In February 2015, Nodar Efendiev, a son of Madina Naloeva, together with his pregnant wife Aisha and a child left for Egypt. Later, he moved to Turkey alone and tried to persuade his wife to return to Russia. Aisha refused to return and followed him first to Turkey and then to Syria, where their second child was born. Aisha Efendieva and her two young children stayed at an Iraqi state prison in the city of Tall Afar, Madina Naloeva reported in May 2018.

The woman appealed to the Russian authorities engaged in the return of children and women from the Middle East, and on April 5, 2018, she took part in a picket in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Moscow together with other women whose daughters stayed in the Middle East.

"Now they have brought children born in Russia. Children born in the territory controlled by the ISIL (an organization was recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia by the court, – note of the 'Caucasian Knot') will be returned later. We don't know when," said Madina Naloeva. The woman has also added that her young grandson stays with her mother in the Iraqi prison and that she knows nothing about the fate of her son.
