ECtHR demands a report on medical treatment for Pavel Grib

On December 18, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) requested the Russian authorities to submit the information on the state of health and medical treatment of Pavel Grib, a citizen of Ukraine, his advocate reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to investigators, Pavel Grib wrote letters to a woman from Kuban with calls to blow up an improvised explosive device (IED) at a graduation ceremony in a Sochi school. On December 12, Pavel Grib needed the medical help at the courtroom. Ambulance officers announced the need to subject the man to a medical examination, and the court postponed the hearing to December 21.

According to the father of Pavel Grib, his son is a disabled man and must regularly take medicines. On September 27, the spokesperson for the Consulate of Ukraine claimed he had not been allowed to visit Pavel Grib, and on October 12, Ukrainian doctors were also not allowed to visit the defendant. After that, Ukraine accused Russia of intentionally harming the health state of Pavel Grib.

On December 18, the ECtHR responded to the motion filed by the Pavel Grib's defence under Rule 39 of the Convention on the adoption of urgent measures to provide him with the necessary medical care, wrote Ukrainian advocate Evgeniya Zakrevskaya on her Facebook page last night.

"The ECtHR requested the Russian Federation to submit medical documents concerning the complainant's current state of health, concerning the medical treatment prescribed to him by doctors and the medical treatment provided while he had been in custody. The deadline for submission is January 2, 2019," reported Evgeniya Zakrevskaya. The advocate has also added that after December 12, Pavel Grib was "never subjected to any medical examination."
