Chechen woman reports her son being tortured

The arrest has been extended for Eida Arsanukhaev, a resident of Chechnya, accused of justifying terrorism. According to his mother, he tortured to obtain confessions. Arsanukhaev's arrest has been extended, despite his health problems, said Sols Musostov, his advocate.

Tabarak Gunasheva, the Eida's mother, told that on January 21, 2018, her 25-year-old son was taken by law enforcers for some check. A few days later, eight other Arsanukhaev acquaintances were detained.

According to the mother, her son was detained because of the video, "justifying terrorists' actions," which he showed to his friends.

"My son spent three years in prison for spreading illegal pills, but after release, he got on the right path and started repairing the house intending to start a family," said Tabarak Gunasheva.

In May, he was again detained for allegedly hiding from investigators.

According to the mother, her son was tortured.

Arsanukhaev himself refuses to plead guilty and testify.

He was put on the list of terrorists and extremists. According to Andrei Sabinin, a lawyer of the "Agora" international human rights group, people are added to this list without waiting for the court verdict.
