CDSI reports 38 losses from parties to Karabakh conflict since beginning of year

In the first half of the year, Azerbaijan lost 15 soldiers and officers. The opposing military units in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh lost 23 killed soldiers and officers, the Caspian Defence Studies Institute (CDSI) estimates.

The CDSI calculates the statistics on losses based on monitoring held by official bodies of the parties to the Karabakh conflict, media reports and messages in social networks on the Internet, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Djasur Sumerini, the head of the CDSI.

According to him, in the first half of 2018, the losses of the defence and security sector of Azerbaijan amounted to 15 soldiers and officers, including three killed in action. The remaining 12 cases relate to non-combat losses.

In the Armenian Army, the CDSI revealed 23 losses, including four combat losses.

When commenting on the loss statistics, Djasur Sumerini, the head of the CDSI, noted a sharp decrease in combat losses. According to him, after July 2017, there were no major clashes between the parties to the Karabakh conflict.
