Victims released

Abducted on 8 August this year, Khasu Yakhiev and Arbi Sambiyev, resident in Starye Atagi, Grozny village district, were released on 10 August 2005. Both had been illegally kept in the Grozny Village District Division of Internal Affairs (in Pobedy Avenue in Grozny) where they had undergone beating.

Armed people in camouflage uniforms forced them into a car in the afternoon on 8 August and took them from the premises of their shared breeze block business to the outskirts of the village. There, they were beaten after which the abductors delivered them to the Grozny Village District Division of Internal Affairs where Khasu Yakhiev and Arbi Sambiyev were kept until their release. No charges were made against them, according to the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society.
