Krasnodar court extends Pavel Grib's arrest by two months

The Oktiabrsky District Court of Krasnodar has left Pavel Grib, a Ukrainian citizen, accused of terrorism, in custody up to May 4. His father has stated that at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) his son is not given the vital medicines he needs.

19-year-old citizen Pavel Grib disappeared in Belarus in late August, and on September 7 was found in Krasnodar SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 5. The territorial FSB branch informed Ukrainian diplomats that Pavel Grib was kept there charged under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorism). Pavel Grib is charged with the fact that he tried to persuade his friend to blow up an improvised explosive device (IED) during a graduation school meeting in Sochi.

The session of the above court to extend Pavel Grib's arrest was held behind closed doors, Marina Dubrovina, a lawyer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ms Dubrovina has added that Pavel Grib suffers from a very rare disease and needs care of special doctors; however, the SIZO medics refuse to recognize his illness. "After every next court session, Pavel's condition is getting worse and worse; and he spoke about this at the court session," she told the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, on February 22, the Ukrainian consul visited Pavel Grib at the SIZO, his father, Igor Grib, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Pavel said that he was not given any medication, although the SIZO administration accepted the parcel with the necessary medicines," he said.
