Accounts Chamber finds no violations

Funds from the federal budget allocated to provide assistance to citizens who suffered as a result of the terrorist act in Beslan have been used without violations. The materials submitted for the Accounts Chamber's board to consider note that 70.7 million roubles or 99.9% of the allocated funds has been transferred to the personal accounts of the victims in the territorial branch of Sberbank of Russia. Payments have been made for a total of 70.1 million roubles.

The payment of the remaining funds to the amount of 590,000 roubles has been suspended because of court proceedings, RIA Novosti says.

At the same time, the audit "revealed a number of violations in the use of funds from the federal budget and extra-budgetary sources." Thus, out of 20 million roubles allocated by the Social Insurance Fund of Russia to the social insurance fund's branch in the Republic of North Ossetia to organise sanatorium and spa treatment of Beslan victims, around 18 million roubles has unlawfully been spent on its current activities.
