South Ossetia closes border with Georgia
The border with Georgia will be closed from December 31 until the morning of January 2, because of enforced security measures during the New Year celebrations, South-Ossetian State Security Committee (KGB) wrote on the Facebook.
"On the eve of the New Year, from 9:00 p.m. Moscow time, the citizens' passage through points of simplified border crossing will be suspended, and resumed at 6:00 a.m. on January 2," the KGB has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about the closure of South-Ossetian the border in October 2016 in connection with the elections in Georgia. The KGB then stated that the decision to close the border had to do with possibility of provocations.
