Lawyer treats judgement to block the BlaBlaCar as erroneous

On December 19, the Krasnodar Territorial Court cancelled the judgement of the Timashevsk District Court, which found the information about joint travels posted on the website of the BlaBlaCar service to be prohibited.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Prosecutor's Office in the Krasnodar Territory demanded to block the above resource in Russia, believing that drivers are using it to earn money.

"We've managed to convince the court that the principle of the service is a free transportation of passengers; the driver takes money only for fuel," the lawyer Natalia Gulyaeva, who represented the interests of the "Comuto Rus" LLC, the operator of the BlaBlaCar service in Russia, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ms Gulyaeva has noted that it is impossible to overstate the cost of a trip on the service; while the company cannot respond for unscrupulous drivers, since it is not an employer.

The decision of the Timashevsk District Court was initially erroneous, which was confirmed today by the Krasnodar Territorial Court, Igor Shibalkin, a lawyer and the head of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization (ANCO) "Agency for Project Management", believes.

According to his story, the law does not prohibit to post ads on the search for fellow travellers.
