Acquaintance tells singer Bataeva's plan to return to Russia
Aza Bataeva, a singer from Chechnya, who has presumably perished in Iraq, wanted to return to her homeland, her acquaintance has told.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 8, relatives reported that Aza (Khazan) Bataeva perished in September in the Iraqi city of Mosul along with her husband and sister, who had come aiming to bring her sister home. So far, her death has no been confirmed.
Aza Bataeva had wanted to return home; and her sister went to the Middle East aiming to help her, said Fatima, an acquaintance of the Bataeva's family and an employee of one of Chechen NGOs.
According to Fatima, Bataeva's parents died in late 1990s or early 2000s; and her two brothers perished at different times.
Law enforcers had information that Bataeva wanted to return to her homeland, a Chechen law enforcement source said, adding that Bataeva's chances to safely return to Russia "were minimal." "She cut off all the ways for herself; it's enough to recollect how she demonstratively liquidated her documents," the source has explained.
Let us remind you that a video clip posted in a social network in 2016 showed a woman tearing up the Russian passport to the name of Bataeva and calling to abandon everything that, according to the Koran, is considered taboo, and "get out onto the straight track."
