"PARNAS" Party initiates a referendum on direct elections in Astrakhan
The Election Commission for the Astrakhan Region has accepted the documents submitted by the regional branch of the "PARNAS" Party, which members initiated a referendum on direct elections of municipality heads.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that members of the opposition political "PARNAS" Party initiated a campaign to return direct elections.
The Election Commission did not immediately accept the documents prepared by activists from the "PARNAS" Party. "The Election Commission has found a technical error in the documents submitted. We have corrected it, and today, we have filed a new notification on the initiative to hold a referendum in the region," said on November 20 Mikhail Doliev, the leader for the regional branch of the "PARNAS" Party.
