Court upholds fine imposed on "Open Russia" Krasnodar coordinator

The Leninsky District Court of Krasnodar has upheld the decision of the magistrate court, according to which Yana Antonova, a coordinator of the movement "Open Russia" in Krasnodar, is to pay a fine of 15,000 roubles for her membership in an "undesirable organization."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a case was instituted against Yana Antonova under Article 20.33 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (activities of a foreign or international NGO recognized as undesirable in the territory of Russia). On June 21, in Krasnodar, the magistrate court found the activist guilty of having relationships with the British organization of the same name, which was declared undesirable by the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia. The court pronounced the decision to fine the activist by 15,000 roubles.

The public network movement "Open Russia" was created by Mikhail Khodorkovsky. In this April, the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) included in the list of undesirable organizations the movement "Open Russia" and the "Institute of Contemporary Russia", registered in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The decision of the court, which upheld the decision of the magistrate court, was reported by the OVD-Info with reference to Yana Antonova herself.

Activists of the local branch of the movement "Open Russia" associate the very administrative case with the reaction of the law enforcement agencies to the action "Nadoel!" ("Sick and Tired!"), sanctioned by the city administration and held in Krasnodar on April 29. During the rally, Yana Antonova was standing with the flag of the movement "Open Russia" in her hands, the "Voice of Kuban" reports.
