Observers' car burned down in Georgia
In the Mtskheta-Mtianeti District, unidentified persons threw a Molotov cocktail bottle into the car of Makhare Sisauri and Ramaz Gvaladze, members of the NGO "Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 21 Georgia held elections of local self-governments: residents of 64 cities and districts elected their municipal heads and members of local councils (Sakrebulos).
The incident with the car of Makhare Sisauri and Ramaz Gvaladze, observers from the "Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights", occurred on October 24 in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti District, in the area of Zhinval Water Reservoir, the "News-Georgia" reports.
Messrs Sisauri and Gvaladze, who were monitoring the election of Mayor of the city of Tianeti, were on their way back from the election office of one of the candidates for the Mayor. The unidentified persons forced them to stop the car, and threw a bottle of Molotov cocktail into it. The observers managed to jump out of the car and remained safe and sound.
A criminal case has been opened on the article of "damage or destruction of an object, committed by arson, explosion or other socially dangerous method". The maximum punishment under this article is five years in prison, the "novost.ge" reports.
