Western company violates worker rights

The management of Armenian-based Ararat Gold Recovery LLC has fired all its 500 workers on strike.

The main demands of the workers who have been on strike for more than a month already are to prolong the term of contracts made for three months and to raise wages.

However, the management has not made any concessions and is currently going to make new contracts. Meanwhile, strikers continue to maintain pickets at the entrance to the facility.

This information has been confirmed by the press service of the government of the Republic of Armenia.

Subject to a contract with the government of Armenia, the Canadian company First Dynasty Mines Ltd (FDM) is a 100% owner of Ararat Gold Recovery which is the main asset of FDM.
