Andreas Gukasyan demands to release him from custody

At trial, Andreas Gukasyan, accused of organizing riots in Yerevan, filed a motion to release him on bail of 1.5 million drams. Public prosecutor opposed the motion, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 30, 2016, Andreas Gukasyan, a member of the movement "Get up, Armenia!", was detained after a march in support of the unit "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), which members seized a police building in Yerevan. The march ended in mass riots. The defence of Andreas Gukasyan stated that the testimony against the defendant was false. Andreas Gukasyan himself accused the country's authorities of fabricating a case against him.

On October 10, at a hearing at the first instance court of general jurisdiction for the administrative districts of Erebuni-Nubarashen, Andreas Gukasyan announced his motion to release him on bail in the amount of 1.5 million drams (about 3100 US dollars), reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who attended the trial.

In his motion, the defendant has noted he cares of his minor daughter and mother with health problems who need him.

The decision of the court on the Andreas Gukasyan's motion will be announced at the next court hearing scheduled for October 17.
