MIA starts investigation into policemen’s fight in Makhachkala
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Dagestan has confirmed a claim of an eyewitness that staff members of the "E" Centre were involved in a conflict with inspectors of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) in Makhachkala.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 8, in Makhachkala, staff members of the Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE) of the Dagestani MIA in civilian clothes refused to produce their IDs to PPS inspectors from the ROVD (District Interior Division) for the Soviet District. In the course of the started fight, the policemen opened fire in the air from submachine guns, an eyewitness reported.
The people in civilian clothes involved in the conflict are indeed the CCE staff members, reported an official from the press service for the Dagestani MIA.
According to the MIA's official, top-ranking officials from the Dagestani MIA are engaged in checking the information about the conflict between staff members of the PPS and the CCE, and an official investigation into the incident was scheduled, the RIA "Dagestan" reports today.
