Sources disclose name of a Chechen killed in Kursk Region
Arbi Bantaev, a native of Chechnya, became one of the persons killed in the Kursk Region in a shootout with border guards. This was reported by sources from the law enforcement agencies. According to them, four persons tried to cross the border, including Ali Demelkhanov, who led the Khasavyurt militants.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 30, in the Kursk Region, a border guard was killed, and one of the gunmen was blown up on a grenade. The attack involved a native of Northern Caucasus, who was returning from Syria, reported sources.
According to the updated information, the shootout occurred when border guards decided to check IDs of four persons walking in a group. Two of the suspects were killed, one was detained, and the fourth fled.
According to law enforcers, all four persons were Chechens, and the man who manage to flee led militants in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan.
The man killed on September 30 was identified as Arbi Bantaev, while the detainee was identified as Magomed Elmurzaev. According to him, their group was moving to Ukraine to reunite with other militants hiding there. He has also reported that he was involved in the incident in Khasavyurt on September 16, when two policemen were injured, the website "Operline.ru" reports.
Arbi Bantaev was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment for involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs). After his release from prison, he went into the forest to join militants, wrote Ukrainian journalist Yuri Butusov in the Facebook. According to him, a lot of Arbi Bantaev's family members were killed by Russian law enforcers.
