Dagestani Prosecutor's Office challenges Bekbolatov's verdict

The Prosecutor's Office has demanded life imprisonment for Arthur Bekbolatov, sentenced to 24 years in prison on charges of killing Dagestani policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the North-Caucasian District Military Court has found Bekbolatov guilty of involvement in killing Magomed Nurbagandov in Dagestan and sentenced him to 24 years in a high-security colony with a further two-year freedom restriction.

According to the spokesman of the Prosecutor's Office, the verdict has been appealed against because of its leniency.

On July 10, 2016 in the village of Sergokala, two men were shot dead; and on August 12, 2016, in the vicinity of the city of Izberbash, a car of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) was shelled, and two policemen were killed. On August 16, 2017, the Dagestani Supreme Court sentenced Aziz Djamalutdinov, one of the two defendants, to 17 years in colony. Then, the Prosecutor's Office also found the verdict too lenient.
